Finally, a wonderful piece from the Economist regarding Franco-American relations<\/a>.<\/p>\n America has a hybrid origin — Anglo-Saxon in people but French in some culture, specifically government and philosophy (think Thomas Jefferson, French Revolution, the influence of the philosophes, etc.). Though there is at times discontent, I think it stems from the fact that we really are very similar countries, a tension that stems from expecting a lot out of one another.<\/p>\n
