thank you thank you thank you

Finally, a wonderful piece from the Economist regarding Franco-American relations.

America has a hybrid origin — Anglo-Saxon in people but French in some culture, specifically government and philosophy (think Thomas Jefferson, French Revolution, the influence of the philosophes, etc.). Though there is at times discontent, I think it stems from the fact that we really are very similar countries, a tension that stems from expecting a lot out of one another.

New.. news. I’m going to be writing some foreign relation pieces for ablogistan.com which I’m excited about. My first piece will be about the riots in France over this summer, and what this means for assimiliation in other Western European countries with Middle Eastern populations.

In other real life news, I moved into a townhouse with Matt and Amanda in Arlington, 5 miles out of Washington DC. I’m truly a beltway bureaucrat, if I wasn’t before.

Fuck Christians and Fuck Conservatives

And anyone else who makes this country more ignorant then it needs to be. You know why the United States is falling behind in research & development? Because people who make their living off of being hypocrites impact public policy and worse, education.

There is no war on Christmas, or some overall arching attempt to dismantle Christianity. And it seems interesting that the people most interested and opportunistic in this so-called war are the people that need the attention — the Fox news commentators and the virtue-crats who profit over alarmist propoganda.

Do you ever get tired of what drives this country? Because I do.

Where did my buildings go?

I’m glad the intelligence agencies are worried about their buildings being on Google Maps & GoogleEarth… but really, when you have security guards that let anyone in, does it even matter?

Ever wondered

What happened to the losers/goths/sideshows at your high school?

I found my answer: they created a band.

Simpsons > Family Guy

Check out the Simpsons recent barbs at Family Guy. I definitely agree that the Simpsons is not the show it used to be, but Family Guy will always be half the show the Simpsons is.

Though I don’t think Family Guy plagarised the Simpsons, the similarities are too apparent: one family, 5 family members, fat, oversized, dimwitted father-figure, stable, simple mother, rambunctious, havoc causing male child. Though the Family Guy is an entertaining show, it can be best described as dimwitted.
