Heimdalsgate Like A Promethean Curse:
This is the first single off of their newest album, Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?, on which Of Montreal continues their exploration of dance music, a trend begun with their 2004 release Satanic Panic in the Attic. Here is the single from that CD:
Come Disconnect the Dots:
Aldhils Arboretum was released in 2002, just before Satanic Panic and showcased their older, 60s-esque sound.
Old People in the Cemetery:
Of Montreal puts on a great performance, and generally does some fantastic covers.
Crazy (Gnarls Barkley):
Fuck the Pain Away (Peaches):
That’s it, I’m becoming French Canadian.
they make great music in Quebec but their politics might drive you a bit crazy.now having said that i admit to being from lotusland which is on the left coast and well known for a certain illegal herb.bone up on your french dude and make the multicultural plunge.good food in Montreal.
Ironically enough, of Montreal is from Georgia, USA.
I visited Quebec City once and it was nice, I liked it a lot. I don’t think I’d ever want to be there during the winter though. Those houses have steep roofs for the snow, not for fashion.
well my apologies for the mistake.and the question now why a band from Georgia would take on the name of the second biggest city in the frozen north? i’m eternally grateful they didn’t choose of Toronto.for a lot of us out here in the west we can’t get far enough away from that place.one of the joys of Canadian politics.thanks for setting me straight Kit.
Hah, no problems. It’s a somewhat interesting story:
I spent a spring break in Toronto once. The underground passages were very useful in purchasing alcohol while age 20, and then going back to the hotel room to get drunk. I remember they had really awesome hot dog carts with amazing numbers of condiments. As far as Canadian travels go, I’ve also been to Vancouver once and it was amazingly beautiful. My brother was considering going to UBC and we took the campus tour. It made me want to go back in time and apply.
Vancouver is beautiful when it’s not raining or you’re not participating in the lifestyle of the folks on the corners of Main and Hastings.have been out U.B.C.way many times in the 30 years i lived there.i think maybe Wreck beach is probably the most famous part of the campus.nothing like 5000 naked women at the nudist beach on a sunny summer day.makes a man glad to be alive.
Hi…
really great post…
