Gosh, you don’t suppose that having a good education and training in the art of critical thinking might have something to do with it? After all, aren’t “facts” liberally biased? Or maybe college instructors are missing the “belief” gene that allows real americans to understand that belief trumps facts every time.
If one is a classical liberal in economic policy, or is a Burkean conservative ( = family + private property + representative democracy + religious practice), or one likes the Tea Party, most universities are unpleasant places to be, because to people with those sorts of values, university administrations and student demands are irrational and immoral.
People on the right much prefer to be business executives, accountants, engineers, corporate lawyers, or doctors.
