And to continue the ongoing report on Joe Lieberman’s role as the “Republican Posterboy” is a report from Salon called Jolting Joe. The second paragraph really hits the nail on the head: “Lieberman is now seen as the most important Democratic apologist for the White House, a man who shores up what little credibility the president has left, while undermining his own party and refusing to own up to the debacle Iraq has become. Increasingly, people in his own party want to take him down. As the 2006 midterms approach, some major Democratic funders, despite their dream of reclaiming at least one house of Congress, are prepared to spend a lot of money and energy defeating one of their own.”
Interestingly enough, both MoveOn and Democracy for America (an organization created by Howard Dean’s brother) said they would consider funding opponents to Joe in the 2006 election. And you know what? Good. Even though that could be construed as an attempt by Howard Dean to remove someone from his party, he should. And perhaps overtly, because Lieberman has done far more bad for the Democratic party than good recently (and I personally blame him for the lose of the 2000 election).
By the way, my favorite quote in the article came from independent Lowell Weicker: “Both parties are at fault,” Weicker says. “You have the idiotic policy of the Bush administration, which brought us into this war in a disingenuous way, and then you have a bunch of Democrats sitting around agreeing with what happened, or semi-agreeing, or failing to stand up and get counted. So why would I want to be a Democrat? Their silence has been as devastating as Bush’s policy. I’ll stay right where I am.” Nothing rings more true to me, and there seems to be no reason to support either parties unless you are one for the lesser of two evils argument.
By the way, check out this DumpJoe website, and this equally sweet picture:
MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann named Bill O’Reilly “Worst Person in the World,” based on false O’Reilly claims that a Texas school district and the township of Saginaw, Michigan, enforced bans against red and green clothing during the holiday season.
PS. I still hate Bill O’Reilly. And I hate him here and here, ‘”No Spin Zone” provides different spin on everyone else’s spin by using Bill O’Reilly’s spin’.
