A Trip In The Libertarian Taxi
“Seat belts? Your choice.”
From the fantastic Mark Fiore: Sure, there are some problems with the Affordable Care Act and Healthcare.gov is apparently a mess, but at least health care reform doesn’t have slavery as a key flaw. What if we cancelled our American experiment with Democracy because of some good old fashioned flaws like slavery and lack of technological know how?
Environmental advocate, civil rights activist and attorney Van Jones on the individual mandate: “Insurance is what you buy when you don’t know if something bad is going to happen. Maybe I’ll crash my car. Maybe I won’t. I don’t know. So I’m going to get car insurance just in case. Everybody’s going to get sick and die, so you know every single person’s going to need health insurance. That’s not something you can provide insurance for, that’s called a service.”
If there were a way to finagle Voter ID legislation to weed people like this out, I’d be in favor of them. Alas.
